Responsible leadership recognises that corporate governance needs to serve the interests of the many, not the few. Responsible leadership is transparent and fair and operates in the best interest of all stakeholders; and responsible leadership creates and sustains enduring levels of trust between employees, executives, suppliers and customers.
Some organisations are transparent, sharing financial data with employees at least annually as a means to better engagement and decision making, leading to higher levels of performance. These organisations act in the long-term interests of the business, adopting remuneration models that are inclusive and fair to all.
The definition of corporate governance is littered with words about ‘rules’ and ‘processes’; corporate leadership however, is about culture, vision and responsibility.
